Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II marked his silver jubilee by decrying the increasing corruption and greed in Uganda that is widening the gaps between poor and the rich. The Kabaka said this while giving a speech during the cerebrations to mark the 25th coronation anniversary attended by a mammoth crowd at the Lubiri in Mengo.
The Kabaka said that the Baganda just like the people of Ashanti in Ghana raised their children by imparting them morals that forbade greed but today, people simply steal public funds. The Asantehene, the King of the Ashanti in Ghana was his special guest at this year’s celebrations.
The Kabaka also endorsed Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga by urging his people to practice what he tells them. This was the biggest endorsement a Katikkiro can get at an event of this magnitude.
The Kabaka later hosted dignitaries to a dinner at the Twekobe in Mengo.
